Yipee-stitches out today-But

Hi Everyone,

Had my stitches out today, two weeks after my op. Dog Dr (DD) really pleased with how it’s healed, but, had the last of my pain killers yesterday morning and I’ve not felt well all this morning. He’s given me some more, and I’m taking them again, but they’ve not kicked in yet so haven’t felt like eating yet today. Human dad’s really worried because that’s only the second time I’ve refused food in my life!! (The other occasion was when I had worming tablets)

DD said it will be at least another two weeks before my op is anywhere nearly fully mended, so, all my fellow tri-athletes, remember not to over do it too soon.

Speak soon,

Luv & Licks,

Louis

  1. Louis, you are such a cutie pie! Just adorable!

Yes, my Happy Hannah was weaning off her pain meds at stitch removal time and had to be put back on them for another week at least.

I “think”…but not sure…that third week it was Gabapentin as opposed to voth Tramadol and Gaba…I’m ot certain though.

It was five weeks for Happy Hannah before I felt like recovery was in full swing! It wqs at this time she started sleeping on her amp. side so I knw then it wasn’t hurting anymore.

CONGRATULATIONS ON STITCH REMOVAL DAY LOUIS!! Thatmeans extra good treats AND STEAK!! Yeah, I cook steak for Happy Hannah all the time…..bet that’s what Louis is holding out for!!

    Keep us posted, okay?

    Hugs and love to all!

    Sally and Happy Hannah

  2. Hi Happy Hannah,
Thanks for that info. Makes me feel better knowing it’s not just me being a wimp! Will tell my humans about the steak idea 🙂

  3. Thanks for sharing Louie! Hyde is on a similar recovery train, he had his stitches out on Wednesday! He’s reduced from two lain pills a day, to one, and then the doc said try going every other day. He’s more tired today too.

Are you taking any joint supplements to support your other limbs?

    Jordan and Hyde 🙂

  4. Oh my gosh a wimp? NEVER! You are totally normal, it’s just a part of the recovery unfortunately, including the lack of appetite. Some dogs need pain management longer than others, so don’t feel bad about it. And well as long as you’re on the pain meds, you’ll probably not feel like eating much, which really freaks out the humans, but rest assured it’s all very normal.

Lots of love coming your way my friend, I hope you have a chill weekend. Keep us posted.

  5. Hi Everyone,
Back on the tablets now and feeling much better thanks. Eating back to normal i.e. anything I can get my paws on 🙂

    Louis
