My Body Armour

Hi Jerry & Co,

The body armour is made simply from bra cups! I put one inside the other for extra padding and sewed thick elastic around the triangular cup. 2 straps velcro around the chest and two around the neck. Louis has his scapula and the top part of the humerus left and this forms a rather sharp point so needs protecting. He is a bit touchy about people knowing he wears a bra so that’s why we refer to it as body armour!!

The head goes through the top loop then the velcro strap goes under the chest to keep the padding over the stump.

Regards,
Kath & Louis

6 months since operation

L 6 mths

Hi Fellow Tri-Athletes,

It’s been 6 months now since my operation and I’m hopping along fine. Had my 11th Birthday in July and mom made me my “bump stop” (I call it my body armour!) to stop my hurting my stump when I slip down on it.

Can’t go the distances I used to do but can still find the pheasants!

Me on holiday

Hi Folks,

It’s been 3 months now since my operation and I enjoyed hopping on the beach for the first time last week end since becoming a

tri-athelete. It was harder work than I’ve been used lately but I slept well after.

Luv & Licks to everyone,

Louis

7 weeks on but lost my dog dad :-(

Hi Everyone,

Doing ok myself but sad as I lost my dog dad on Tuesday. He lived with us all and was 3 months short of his 16th birthday. He’d just got tired and wanted to go to sleep. He was very famous in the show world and if you Google “Sh Ch Vanders Veracity”  you can see him strutting his stuff. He was a great dad to me and my half brother and his grandson. I’ll miss him loads.

Luv & Licks,

Louis

4 weeks on

Hi Everyone,

Here’s a photo of me enjoying the rare British sunshine today by having a hop around the field. Not allowed to go too far yet and only taking one pain killer last thing at night.

Here’s looking forward to a great summer.

Yipee-stitches out today-But

Hi Everyone,

Had my stitches out today, two weeks after my op. Dog Dr (DD) really pleased with how it’s healed, but, had the last of my pain killers yesterday morning and I’ve not felt well all this morning. He’s given me some more, and I’m taking them again, but they’ve not kicked in yet so haven’t felt like eating yet today. Human dad’s really worried because that’s only the second time I’ve refused food in my life!! (The other occasion was when I had worming tablets)

DD said it will be at least another two weeks before my op is anywhere nearly fully mended, so, all my fellow tri-athletes, remember not to over do it too soon.

Speak soon,

Luv & Licks,

Louis

Louis’ update

Hi Everyone,
Went for my first “hop” down the road yesterday for a short distance. Mom & Dad struggled to keep up!
I live in the UK and had a swelling on my left wrist which turned out to be a soft tissue cancer. The Dog Doctor(DD) did x-rays on my bones and lungs and they were all clear so I had to have my left leg off 🙁
But the growth was very bad, sore and smelly towards the end and the DD said I wouldn’t have survived long if it had been left.
I’m being well looked after by my humans but I’m getting really bored not being able to go for my walks.
Luv & Licks to my fellow “Tri-Atheletes”
